Value-added reporting
Managers aren't particularly interested in data at the granularity level of most reports; what they really want is to make informed decisions based on that data.
One way to do that is by creating a web-based interactive user interface ("decider") that will enable managers to make sense of certain types of large data sets.
These deciders were created for use by UT Arlington Library staff. They have provided information for projects like determining the shelf sizes to specify for a new remote storage facility (the Library Collections Depository, or "LCD") to maximize storage by spine height. Another project involved the transfer of material to remote storage and the decider helped in determing the percentage of the collection that met various quantitative usage criteria.
