External Authentication

MetaLib's Patron Directory Services (PDS) component facilitates external authentication. PDS allows for patron logins to be authenticated against a campus authentication service such as LDAP. PDS also allows for creation/update of patron records within MetaLib.

PDS includes some "off the shelf" scripts and config files for implementing external authentication. However, for various reasons, a customer site may need to build their own adaptor to serve as the middle-ware between PDS/MetaLib and the campus authentication service.
