ShelfLister

Equipment

ShelfLister is a web application. Which means that it can be used on any computing device that has a browser and an internet connection. ShelfLister has been optimized for the small screen of a Pocket PC, Palm handheld, or tablet PC. However, many users access it with a laptop.

Mobile computing devices such as laptops, tablet PCs, Pocket PCs, and Palms, typically communicate with a network via a wireless protocol. The most common wireless protocol is the IEEE 802.11 standard (commonly referred to as Wi-Fi), which is used to access a wireless local area network (WLAN).

To use ShelfLister on a mobile computing platform, the device must be Wi-Fi enabled. This assumes of course, that you have a wireless LAN installed in your library. Data entry is easier if the device also incorporates a barcode scanner.
